PCN has periodically addressed this topic and with the recent explosion of media on the Internet, it's time to revisit the issue.

Chemistry of Joy


Combining the latest research with warmth, humor and practical advice, Erin will present on the role of digital technologies in our lives and explain how to use knowledge of the media to understand, communicate and stay connected with our children.

Speaking points will include:

  • Electronic bullying - what does it look like?
  • Sexting - what is it?
  • Internet filtering vs. Internet monitoring - how do parents choose?
  • Where can kids and parents get into legal trouble using electronics?
  • Recent research on electronic devices and brain development - why unplug and when?
  • When and where are the risky times for kids using electronic entertainment? How can parents reduce the risk to their kids?
